Sick and Tired

Well, at least I didn't get sick on my birthday.

I previously mentioned that I was feeling under the weather last night. When I was in the shuttle on my way home, I could feel my throat getting sore by the minute. That's why I only ordered warm calamansi juice instead of my usual lemon iced tea at CPK where Leo and I had dinner.

Leo took me home and I slept earlier than my usual time. I woke up at 1am feeling slightly feverish and my throat hurting so much. Leo made me drink a paracetamol tablet. He told me to forget going to the office today.

Anyway, I still woke up at 6am but did not get out of bed. I read and rested while waiting for my hubby to wake up so we can eat breakfast together. I already sent a text to my boss and my one-down that I won't be able to go to work today. I'll just rest and try to get more sleep.

However, I'm tempted to finish wrapping or fixing our other room. As you can see, plastic bags containing stuff we bought at the bazaar are all over the bed (good thing we don't sleep there) and all the wrapped gifts are piled on one side of the room. It's embarrassing, really.

Behind me is my table where I do the wrapping and writing. I'm almost done with the Christmas cards so I just have to send them off.

Anyway, I'll probably sleep again. I drank my ascorbic acid and another tablet of Centrum. I'm also drinking gallons of water to hopefully flush away the virus.

Tagaytay

We spent the last two days at Tagaytay with Leo's family. I took a few pics, I'll post them tomorrow.

Well, Tagaytay was surprisingly cold. Really cold. Probably in the early 20's. I know that's not cold for much people but it is for me! Even if I closed the windows in my room, I still slept under a blanket and comforter. In fact, the weather was so cool that I slept most of Friday. When we went to Tagaytay Highlands for dinner, I was so cranky and I was groggy from sleeping too much.

Leo and I arrived at Tagaytay Thursday before lunch. The traffic at South Superhighway was surprisingly light. Most of the people must have left early. The house of Leo's parents is located in a gated community called Terra Moy. It's on top of a hill with around less than 20 houses. I settled into my room while Leo played around with his dad's projector. Leo's sister and her family arrived something after lunch.

We had dinner at the house Thursday night after hearing mass at Highlands. Friday morning, we just stayed in the house. As I said, I just ate, read and slept. The children were hogging the dvd player with the games. Leo's dad found a dvd of old atari/family computer games. It was very nostalgic. I finished a couple of rounds of Mario Bros. and Arkanoid. Brings back good memories. Leo's nephews were impressed by my dexterity (regardless of the poor graphic quality. Hey, these are boys who are used to PSP's and Playstation-like graphics). Too bad the controllers keep on getting stuck or I could've gone on.

As today was Leo's birthday, we had lunch at Tagaytay Highlands China Palace with Leo's family. His grandparents came from Magallanes just to attend the lunch. The Orange Shrimp was good. Actually I think it was Prawns. They were so big. They call it Crystal Prawns. Must be why they're so humongous.

I think I gained pounds the last couple of days. Doing nothing but eat and sleep can do that. At least I finished one book and am almost through with another book. Also managed to watch Pan's Labyrinth (will write a review on that). Really great movie.

Sick Day Off

I went home early yesterday as I was feeling under the weather. I had a bad cold that I couldn't shake off and it was triggering my asthma. When I woke up at 3 am this morning, I knew I just couldn't make it to work today. So I called in sick and planted myself in front of the TV for a little R&R.

It's too bad I got sick. I wanted to get things done today. Moreover, I had a lot of things scheduled to do. For one, we were supposed to meet with our coordinator this lunch time and then, there's a dinner party at Magallanes for one of Leo's tita's who is going back to the US. I had to text a lot of people this morning to inform them of the cancellation of plans.

As I settled down to watch TV, I made the Lifestyle Network the channel base and moved to the left or to the right but I make sure to return to the Lifestyle Network. It's my favourite channel--more of because of the Food Network. This morning I caught Bobby Flay with his gril cooking pizzas (yumyum!) and Tyler Florence cooking shepherd's pie and pasta with mushroom and turkey (double yum!). It made me crave for pizza and pasta.

That's all for now. I have to think of a Valentine's gift for Leo. I just realized that Valentine's is next week and I don't have anything for Leo yet!
