Album Review: David Cook

Ok, so this album review is SO delayed considering it was released on November 2008. But listening to it again almost 6 years after it's release made me realize how much I love this album.

According to his discography in Wikipedia, there are 15 tracks but the CD that I bought only has 12. It doesn't have "Time of my Life" (which was his winner's song in Idol but I bought that separately), "My Last Request" (which was an ITunes pre-order song) and "Breathe Tonight" (which was only released in Japan). I won't go through all the songs but I'll just focus on the ones that I like.

In my opinion, the best song in the album is "Lie"(you can watch his live performance in the youtube video below). I can't understand why they made "Light On" as the carrier single when this song is emo to the max. People with relationship problems (especially those on the verge of ending one) can so relate to this song.

David Cook really rocks his lyrics. "Mr. Sensitive" and "Life on the Moon" is also catchy.  His gravelly voice makes me want to just listen to him all day long. I'm still sore that he was dropped by his label after only 2 albums.

Just a disclaimer, wala akong pinagdadaanan. :) I could just feel his frustration and heartbreak when I listened to the song.

I hope he'll release more songs in Itunes. I miss his voice the clips being posted in youtube of his live performances can only tide me over so much.

By the way, when I was pregnant with my son, I would listen to David Cook a lot. No wonder my son is so musically inclined. And handsome too. :)

I Heart David Cook

I was crazy over David Cook when he won American Idol three years ago, and I'm still as crazy over him until now. His recently released sophomore album refueled my fervor for him.

One reason why I love him so much is that you could feel his passion through every lyric that he sings. When he sang the above song live, I was melting (and to think that was in youtube. What more if I'm really there?). When he was still competing in Idol, I would scream whenever he would look in the camera with his really dreamy eyes.

David is also one of the rare singers who still sounds good when he sings live (others uses auto-tune so there's a big discrepancy when you listen to the album and hear them sing live). When he covered Adele's Rolling in the Deep, I wish I was there in the crowd to scream and clap for him. What you hear is what you get.

That's why I'm still sore that I missed his show when I was in NYC last June. I would've given anything just to see him live and would have paid the extra money for VIP passes. Hugging him would be a big check off my bucket list.

Until I can get that chance, I would continue to watch youtube videos of his concerts and pray and wish that I would get the chance to see him sing live again. I fervently hope so.

Yes! Yes! Yes! My American Idols will be here on May 16 and I'M WATCHING!!!! YAY! YAY! YAY!
I just brought our tickets today at ticketworld. I can't believe that there are people out there willing to shell out 12K for tickets! We didn't buy that of course. Hehe.
