Sayang ang Miles

As Leo and I forsee that we will be doing a lot of travelling next year, we're going to get Miles membership. We're choosing between Asiamiles, Mabuhay Miles and Worldperks.

As my credit card is affiliated with Asiamiles, I'll surely get that so I can convert my credit card rewards points to miles. Come to think of it, we might be getting membership for all! However, my concern here is that my passport is still under my maiden name. Can I just wait to apply until I renew my passport? Or can I apply now and just renew later?

Any suggestions from the well-traveled group?

hhm ok i never had this problem since single pa rin ako hahahaha but when is your passport expiring? do you have any valid visa's in it? coz if you do i suggest you wait til time to renew your visa saka mo na isabay pag renew ng passport under your new name....less hassle and less gastos =)

my passport's expiring on 2010. wala namang visa sa passport ko. paparenew ko lang yung matagal ko nang expired na US VISA. yun nga lang, wala pa sa NSO yung marriage cert namin so i have to use my maiden name muna.
baka si leo nalang ang ipag-apply ko ng miles. at least he won't have this problem. *sigh*

i don't see why you should have this problem since you are still the same person. isn't it just a matter of amending your name? anyway i think it is a good idea to have it in leo's name. saves on membership fees. we have something like this with american express and yes - tito tony is the main cardholder. i am just a supplement cardholder but it does not seem to make any difference -apart from my expenses being greater than his and he gets to pay. tell leo that is what husbands do.

Couple of things you should consider:
1. Miles Membership - Not sure about NW but both Mabuhay and Asiamiles have expiry dates. Doublecheck if you will given the option to extend this. Also, consider who much you will need to spend in order to earn enough mileage to redeem a trip. I'm personally partial to Asiamiles because you can also redeem other items. We've been able to use miles gathered over the year to redeem hotel stays in Bangkok and HK. Take advantage of the budget airlines and then use mileage to stay in a nice place. =)
2. Re passport, no need to renew prior to 2010 or until the NSO databank is updated. The only impact right now is that you will need to list your status as single in the immigration cards. I'd wait until later --- and course your application through Teleserv if you can. It's very simple to change the name registered with Asiamiles etc. .. just send a copy of your marriage cert.
